Following last year’s successful seminar on this theme, this session will explore the critical importance of nature and biodiversity within the financial sector, offering both strategic perspectives and practical approaches to integration.
Blanca Hidalgo, Senior ESG Consultant from EY Luxembourg, will set the stage by addressing why biodiversity matters for financial institutions, the risks linked to nature loss, and how frameworks such as the TNFD can guide financial institutions in integrating these risks.
Selim Boudhabhay, Responsible Investment Manager, Benelux at UN PRI will bring a practical lens to the discussion by focusing on biodiversity through the prism of collaborative engagement and stewardship. He will introduce SPRING, PRI's stewardship initiative for nature, which aims to address the systematic risk of biodiversity loss to safeguard the long-term interests of investors. In addition, he will highlight key findings from the "Human Rights and Nature Nexus" paper (November 2024), which explores how biodiversity loss can lead to human rights risks and impact vulnerable communities.
